Accusations not yet costing Cain in early states (AP)

DES MOINES, Iowa ? Republicans in early voting states like Iowa seem to be giving Herman Cain the benefit of the doubt for now ? but they also say they need to know more, nearly a week after the disclosure that he was accused of sexually harassing women who worked for him in the 1990s.

"It's concerning, but it's not a big deal," said Cindy Baddeloo of suburban Des Moines, one of more than two dozen undecided Republican voters interviewed in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina in the days since the allegations ? which Cain has repeatedly denied ? surfaced.

"Nobody's perfect," she said.

The same for LaDonna Ryggs, chairwoman of Spartanburg County GOP in South Carolina. "You give me some substance to the questions, and then we'll talk."

With the furor over the allegations showing no signs of abating, it's an open question whether supporters of Cain's presidential campaign will stick with him, or whether the one-time long shot can increase his base of support at a time when many early state GOP activists are making up their minds.

And while the Georgia businessman topped a national poll taken this week, the new round of questions follow doubts that had already begun to form about him before he became enmeshed in this latest controversy.

"Fair or unfair, is anybody more likely to vote for Herman Cain as a result of these allegations? The answer is no," said Phil Musser, a GOP strategist unaffiliated with any campaign.

Cain was sharply critiqued by his rivals over his tax proposal during a debate in Las Vegas last month. And questions later arose over his loyalty to the GOP base's most enduring litmus test, opposition to abortion, after he said in an interview the decision was a matter of choice.

And the timing is problematic for Cain, too, just two months before the Iowa caucuses and as Cain presumably should be seeking to close the deal with undecided caucus-goers in the state.

He's not slated to return to Iowa for another two weeks, and, if he follows through, he will have made just one trip to the leadoff caucus state over the course of three months. Meanwhile, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is stepping it up here, Texas Gov. Rick Perry's gung-ho on advertising and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum is hitting his stride.

Cain denied all along that he made suggestive comments to female subordinates while serving as president of the National Restaurant Association. Yet, over the past five days, he has given conflicting accounts about what, if anything, he knew about the alleged incidents as well as whether he knew about financial settlements two of his accusers reportedly received from the trade group.

He's blamed the mainstream media, liberals and Perry's campaign, which said it had nothing to do with it. A black conservative, Cain has said his race has played a factor in the turmoil.

And Friday, a lawyer for one of Cain's accusers disclosed that she alleged "several incidents of sexual harassment" in a complaint filed more than a decade ago, a fresh accusation that complicated the Republican presidential hopeful's determined bid to lay the politically explosive controversy to rest.

"As far as I can see, it wasn't any different than Bill Clinton," said New Hampshire Republican Howard Burrows, arguing Cain could survive the episode.

Likewise, none of the Iowa Republican activists interviewed at a GOP banquet in Des Moines where most of Cain's rivals spoke Friday said the allegations disqualify Cain from their support, or that he should quit the race.

"People are so much more focused on the economy," said Des Moines area Republican Jason McKibben. "They're tired of gutter politics."

Republicans nationally haven't bolted the former national restaurant chain CEO who has recently risen from obscurity to near the top of national polls with Romney.

And a new Washington Post-ABC News survey taken after the allegations emerged Sunday showed Cain and Romney running nearly even atop the field of 2012 GOP presidential hopefuls, with most Republicans dismissing the harassment allegations. Seven in 10 Republicans say reports of the allegations don't matter when it comes to picking a candidate.

But in a sign of the possible danger ahead, the poll found that Cain slipped to third place among those who see the accusations as serious, and Republican women were significantly more likely than men to say the allegations make them less apt to support the businessman.

While the questions apparently haven't struck a blow against Cain in Iowa, their persistence is giving some GOP caucus-goers pause at a critical time.

A poll of likely Iowa caucus-goers sponsored by The Des Moines Register last week showed Cain narrowly leading in Iowa.

But Cain has a smaller campaign staff in the early states than many of his rivals. And he has only visited Iowa once in more than two months, while others are aggressively trying to claim an edge in the fluid caucus campaign.

The questions aren't discouraging Iowa state Rep. Henry Rayhons from siding with Cain ? yet.

"He's got to come clean, or people are going to keep harassing him about it," said Rayhons. "The longer it hangs out there, the less likely I am to support him."

Kim Kardashian Divorce Lawsuit Is 'Deadly Serious'

'I desire for American people to have better television to watch,' comedian Rob Delaney says of suing over Kim's split with Kris Humphries.

Comedian/plaintiff Rob Delaney wants you to know that his lawsuit against Kim Kardashian, Ryan Seacrest, E! and Comcast is no laughing matter.

Delaney told MTV News on Tuesday that while he has never filed a lawsuit before, he is feeling confident via the support he's received since announcing his plans to sue over Kardashian's impending divorce from Kris Humphries.

"I've never sued anyone before. I've never been sued, but I'm against frivolous lawsuits, of course," he said. "It took something deadly serious for me to come out of the woodwork and mount this case. Ever since I announced, I've had numerous lawyers offer their support pro bono, and in America, you can kind of do whatever you want with the law. Michelle Bachmann is a lawyer, the Supreme Court decided [the presidency] in 2000, so there's a tradition here that I feel supports me. The Supreme Court, for example would be behind me."

And although Delaney has plenty of supporters, there are also those who might accuse him of grandstanding for publicity purposes and hitching his cause to a media storm. Delaney has a thoughtful response to the naysayers:

"Are people accusing me of [staging] a PR stunt? Absolutely, and that's valid. When I hear that, I'm not like, 'What are you talking about?' I get it. I'm a comedian, and this is happening on a television, so sure, I'm happy to draw attention to it, but if the comedy were chocolate, because we just had Halloween, the coating, the nougat of this matter is my true love for humanity and Kim Kardashian herself," he promised. "Again, I don't hate her, I want her to be married and happy, and I desire for American people to have better television to watch."

All things considered, Delaney's case is a bit grandiose. It's very likely that even the most skilled lawyers would not have very high hopes for his chances at a victory or acknowledgment in court. This is a fact Delaney knows full well but hopes his crusade might help just one person change his/her television viewing habits.

"I'm not totally insane, so I know that this might not come to fruition exactly how I envision it," he said. "But if we can get a few more people, if we can get a 12-year-old girl watching ['Keeping Up With the Kardashians'] to think, 'You know what? Kim Kardashian is a very awful role mode and I shouldn't watch that show.' Literally, if one girl in, let's say, North Dakota, sees this and says that, then we won. That's worth more than $18 million, certainly."

Should Rob Delaney be suing over Kim Kardashian's failed marriage? Let us know in the comments.

Forty-year-old Ricky Pempengco was fatally stabbed late Monday near the Philippines' capital, Manila, after a brush with a drunken man in a grocery store.

Charice said Tuesday in a statement she wants to thank her fans around the world "for their support and love at this very difficult time."

The 19-year-old starred on "Glee" last season and was touring in Southeast Asia. She cancelled the rest of the tour dates and has flown to the Philippines to be with her family.

12pc Rise in Aviva Car Insurance Customers

Earlier today, it was announced by Aviva that it has seen a 9pc increase in health premiums and general insurance. This was announced it its interim third quarter statement.  In the past year, Aviva has obtained and maintained 318,000 new clients which increased the sales of car insurance by 12pc. Its statistics shows that Aviva currently has approximately two million car insurance clients.

In its interim statement, Aviva mentioned that these results show good drive in general insurance which resulted in life insurance being strongly profitable and a combined operation ratio that is 96pc. It did mention however that sale of long term saving plans decreased by 8pc and are now at £23.6bn. The cause of this according to Aviva is the pressing conditions of the market and less businesses that are capital intensive. The chief executive of Aviva group, Mr. Andrew Moss, reported that even though the insurance market has been very volatile, Aviva still continued to deliver great operation accomplishments from January to September of 2011. According to Mr. Moss, Aviva is focused on remaining on target to meet its financial targets for 2011. They will proceed in having capital generation as their top priority and will persevere in keeping their liquidity and capital position.

Mr. Moss also said that Aviva is focused on a balance sheet in a challenging economic environment and that by pursuing a strategy that it focused on its core business, it has made continuous strategic progress taking into consideration the £1bn sale at its Norwich-based RAC.  It also announced a shake-up in its Ireland operations last month although they experienced a loss of approximately 900 jobs while the sale of life insurance and pension plans in the United Kingdom were up 6pc acquiring £8.1bn.

The fact is that Aviva is fitter and leaner today and will make continuous progress strategically and to strengthen their customer franchises in markets such as the United Kingdom which are part of their key markets.

Newly deciphered diary muddles Livingstone legend (AP)

LONDON ? He is one of history's most famous explorers, and his first-person account of a 19th-century massacre in Africa helped lead to the closure of one of the continent's most notorious slave markets.

Now researchers say they have evidence Dr. David Livingstone may not have been telling the whole truth. An international team of academics used spectral imaging technology to decode Livingstone's long-illegible field diary and say it hints that his own men may have participated in the atrocity.

"Livingstone's party might have been involved in the massacre," said Adrian Wisnicki of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, who directed the project. But he advised caution: "We're only beginning to analyze the evidence."

It's an explosive claim, because Livingstone's account of the horror seen in the African village of Nyangwe galvanized British authorities to shut the slave market in Zanzibar, a critical hub for East Africa's human traffickers.

Livingstone himself denied allegations that his men had been involved. And while Livingstone biographer Tim Jeal praised Wisnicki's efforts, he said he was skeptical that the Scottish missionary would have tried to cover up his party's role in the killings.

"Nobody can know for sure, but I don't think the proof is there," Jeal said.

Regardless of the exact circumstances, the Nyangwe massacre was one of the darkest points of Livingstone's career.

In his posthumously published "Last Journals," Livingstone described how a "bright sultry summer morning" in July 1871 had turned to hell when slavers opened fire on some 1,500 people at Nyangwe's market. Pandemonium broke out as the marketgoers, many of them women, scrambled for their canoes or tried to swim across the nearby Lualaba River.

"Shot after shot continued to be fired on the helpless and perishing," Livingstone said, describing how many others drowned in the river. "Some of the long line of heads disappeared quietly; whilst other poor creatures threw their arms high, as if appealing to the great Father above, and sank."

Livingstone said he couldn't know how many had died, although he cited estimates running into the hundreds.

When news of the massacre reached Britain, it ignited a wave of revulsion. By 1873, the British consul had pressured the sultan of Zanzibar to close the island's large slave market.

Livingstone's account was first communicated to the outside world by journalist Henry Stanley, whose famous encounter with the explorer in October 1871 was immortalized by the words: "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?"

Later works, including the "Last Journals," were based on the journal that Livingstone wrote in 1872, after Stanley had resupplied him with paper.

But it's Livingstone's field diary, improvised from bank checks and aging pieces of newsprint and written in ink made from seeds and berries, which Wisnicki claims as evidence for his theory that Livingstone's men were involved in the massacre.

The raw notes have long been considered unreadable ? a result of the unusual writing material, the tropical weather, and the unorthodox ink. But Wisnicki's team submitted the notes to spectrographic analysis.

The field diary makes clear that Livingstone ? an ardent abolitionist ? was horrified by the moral character of the freed slaves sent to reinforce his expedition. He describes them as "senseless slaves with no honor."

In Livingstone's account, they emerge as rebellious and violent ? at one point he confides that "if they go anywhere I must go with them or murder is certain." In another passage, dated May 18, Livingstone says the slaves have mutinied and bought guns with his money.

Those passages were either sanitized or excised from Livingstone's 1872 journal.

Wisnicki claimed that the edits, combined with discrepancies between the field diary and the journal's descriptions of the massacre, suggest Livingstone may have had something to hide about the bloody incident.

Jeal acknowledged that the slaves were "clearly very disobedient and violent men," but said it was unlikely that they would have gone on a rampage in Livingstone's presence.

Followers of the great explorer can decide for themselves. Scans and transcripts of the diary were posted to website of the University of California, Los Angeles on Tuesday.

50 horror movies spoiled in four minutes

Fine Brothers/YouTube

By Helen A.S. Popkin

Much like the unstoppable Michael Myers, the Fine Brothers are back to totally spoil your Halloween with "50 More Horror Spoilers in 4 minutes."??

"How is it possible," you find yourself asking, "that these young filmmakers and (alleged) siblings of YouTube fame managed to dig up?even?more crappy sequels ? not to mention their crappy progenitors" after totally decimating the key plot points and character arcs of "100 Horror Spoilers in 5 Minutes" just last year?

Why not ask how it's?possible that?there is not one ? but four ? "Critters" movies, one featuring a young Leonardo DiCaprio? Why is there a "Leprechaun" franchise when only the first one starred a pre-Rachel Jennifer Aniston? Why does Death favor the Rube Goldberg method?of wreaking revenge on those who cheated him (ala the "Final Destination" franchise) when he could just be all, "I'm Death. You're dead. Salmon mousse," because,?hey, he's DEATH?!

And as for "Human Centipede" ...? never mind.

Instead of wasting your time asking questions?for which there are no answers, spend four more minutes with the Fine Brothers who do you the solid of once again clearing out your Netflix queue.

More from the Fine Brothers:

The idea is intriguing, and unlike anything I've done so far. I should like to participate (if this RP garners interest.) My only fear here is that this RP might end up a victim of the whole "Too many cooks" thing.

If no mistake have you made, yet losing you are ... a different game you should play.

Well, personally, too many cooks can never be that bad in my oppinion. I just love food, though.

I might be fat.

Anyway, hope you decide to join in. And as stated above, if you have any questions, let me know! Unfortunately I won't be on for the next few hours, but if you submit a character, I'll be glad to approve them. Thanks!
